Extruder - April 12 (1pm)
Extruding is a fantastic way of making hand-built pottery. This workshop will teach you how to use a wall-mounted extruder and discuss what forms can be made with them.
Simply put, a clay extruder is a mechanical device that passes clay through a column with applied pressure. Attached to the bottom of the column is a shape called a die. With the force of a lever, the clay is pushed through the die's shape to extrude a specific shape of clay.
If you have knowledge of pottery or sculpting and understand your ceramic equipment, you may have heard of a clay extruder. This tool is commonly used in ceramic art and ceramic projects to create intricate and uniform shapes out of clay. But what exactly is a clay extruder and how does it work? This will be the basis of this workshop that will also explore all the different applications of this machine.
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, understanding the basics of a clay extruder can help take your creations to the next level.
